Delivery of this course is completed face-to face with a mix of classroom-based theory training and hands on practical training.

      • We recommend long sleeve shirts and long trousers and UV sunscreen. Steel cap runners are not acceptable. Safety sunglasses may be acceptable.

    • Reasonable health fit for scaffold work.
      • You must advise us of any health issues that may place you or others at risk. This will not preclude your enrolment but, will allow us to determine appropriate adjustments to your training and physical activities.

    • USI Number – As of the 1st of January 2015 all trainees must supply or obtain a USI (Unique Student Identifier). This is mandatory. If you do not yet have one, please click on this link or search online for “USI Student Identifier”

  • We have developed a detailed training plan for our Advanced Training Course, providing students with the necessary skills and knowledge to safely erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding at an advanced level including the use of hung scaffolds and suspended scaffolds.

    A current class SI High-Risk Work license is required as a pre-requisite for this course.

    Scaffolding is a temporary structure used to support workmen and materials while building, repairing or maintaining buildings or any other man-made structure. It is commonly used on construction sites to keep workers safe when work cannot be done at ground level. Advanced scaffolding in Brisbane consists of all basic and intermediate scaffolding including work associated with the use of hung and suspended scaffolds.

    Our Advanced Scaffolding course will guide students on how to plan a job effectively, choose and inspect the appropriate plant and equipment for setting up the task in hand and finally erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding at an advanced level that may include the use of hung and suspended scaffolds.

    This course will be taught by our highly skilled and experienced trainers through written and practical teachings at our onsite training facility in Brisbane. It will include the following;

    • Hazard identification and risk assessment
    • OHS legislation and Australian regulations associated with advanced scaffolding
    • Constructing and dismantling of scaffolding included hung and suspended scaffolds
    • Various types and uses of equipment including safety equipment
    • Inspection and maintenance of scaffolding according to site procedures
    • Forces and Loads including dead loads, static loads and dynamic loads.
    • Load estimation and capabilities using mathematical calculations
    • Work method statements and all other site-specific documentation
    • Understand the manufacturer’s instructions and specifications relating to plant and equipment.
    • Communication in the workplace with co-workers, supervisors and all relevant personnel

    In completion of this course, the successful candidate will have the knowledge and ability to demonstrate the following;

    • Identify hazards such as overhead hazards, traffic issues, and environmental conditions
    • Apply the hierarchy of controls to avoid or eliminate potential risks
    • Erect and dismantle scaffolding and equipment at an advanced level including hung scaffolds and suspended scaffolds.
    • Select the appropriate scaffolding equipment including counterweights and prefabricated needles
    • Use safety equipment specific to the job such as a safety harness, energy absorber or lanyard.
    • Inspect and maintain all plant and equipment in compliance with workplace policies and perform isolation procedures when needed
    • Understand the load capabilities and limitations of various scaffolding at the advanced level
    • Effectively communicate with all co-workers in the workplace and ensure proper use of visual communication such as signage.
    • Comply with OHS legislation, Australian standards, and worksite procedures

    On successful completion of this course, you will have the knowledge and practical experience to erect, alter and dismantle all scaffolding at the basic and intermediate level including hung scaffolds and suspended scaffolds.
