    • Steel cap boots, high visibility shirt, hard hat, safety glasses.
      • We recommend long sleeve shirts and long trousers and UV sunscreen. Steel cap runners are not acceptable. Safety sunglasses may be acceptable.
    • Reasonable health fit for rigging work.
      • Current Intermediate Rigger High-Risk Work Licence or AS1 form along with Australia Post receipt.
    • Reasonable health fit for this work.
      • You must advise us of any health issues that may place you or others at risk. This will not preclude your enrolment but, will allow us to determine appropriate adjustments to your training and physical activities.

  • The purpose of our Advanced Rigging course is to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform rigging operations at an advanced level.

    Advanced Rigging consists of all basic and intermediate rigging operations including the rigging of gin poles, flying foxes and cableways, and suspended and hung scaffolds.

    A current RI class High-Risk Work Licence is required as a pre-requisite for this course.

    Advanced Rigging operations involve the planning of a job, choosing and inspecting the correct rigging equipment according to procedures, site and equipment preparation such as ground suitability and finally erecting and dismantling of structures and associated plant.

    We have developed a detailed training plan that will provide you with the necessary written and practical teachings at our onsite training facility in Brisbane. The course content will include the following;

    • Potential hazards associated with personnel and equipment and measures used to control them
    • Safe working load and working load limit calculations
    • Forces and loads when setting up and dismantling plant and equipment
    • Erect and dismantle the plant and associated safety equipment in a safe manner
    • Interpret site information, structural charts, and plans
    • Limitations, capabilities, and functions of rigging equipment
    • Methods of communication in the workplace
    • Maintenance of plant and equipment and isolation procedures due to faulty equipment
    • OHS legislation, Australian standards, and workplace procedures
    • Ground conditions and soil types relevant to rigging operations

    The successful candidate will have the knowledge and ability to demonstrate the following:

    Identify hazards in the workplace such as overhead power lines, traffic, and environmental conditions and apply the necessary control measures and management procedures

    • Comply with all safety legislation, standards, and codes of practice relevant to advanced rigging operations.
    • Work safely at heights using the appropriate safety equipment
    • Conduct tasks specific to advanced rigging such as rig a flying fox, install a swinging stage, set up a gin pole, erect and dismantle a hung scaffold.
    • Demonstrate various knots, bends, and hitches associated with rigging operations such as an alpine hitch and the figure eight knot.
    • Ensure appropriate methods of communication such as hand signals, signage, written instructions, and two-way radios along with effective communication amongst co-workers in the workplace.
    • Inspect and maintain all rigging equipment and isolate according to site procedures.
    • Assess the various soil types and ground conditions to ensure the ground suitability for setting up plant and equipment.

    All elements of this course both written and practical are essential in obtaining your Advanced Rigging license. On successful completion of this course, you will have the knowledge and experience necessary, to safely conduct rigging operations at an advanced level across many industries within Australia.
