    • Steel cap boots, high visibility shirt, hard hat, safety glasses.
      • We recommend long sleeve shirts and long trousers and UV sunscreen. Steel cap runners are not acceptable. Safety sunglasses may be acceptable.
    • Reasonable health fit for this work.
      • You must advise us of any health issues that may place you or others at risk. This will not preclude your enrolment but, will allow us to determine appropriate adjustments to your training and physical activities.

  • The purpose of our Confined Spaces training is to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to carry out confined space operations and act as a stand-by person within the Resources and Infrastructure industries.

    A confined space is an area with limited entry that can be enclosed or partially enclosed. It is not intended to be an area where people occupy. Storage tanks, pressure vessels, pipes and sewers are all examples of confined spaces. Hazards such as harmful gases and dust poses a great danger to workers and due to poor ventilation within the confined space, appropriate training is essential.

    This course is a high-quality designed and detailed training plan with an emphasis on risk assessment and safety precautions. This will ensure all applicants gain the level of confidence necessary to work safely in a variety of confined spaces.

    This course will give you the tools necessary for planning and preparing a job within a confined space, carry out the relevant work, leave the space in a safe manner and finally the cleaning and maintenance of the area.

    All aspects of this course will be taught by our highly skilled trainers through written and practical teachings at our on-site training facility in Brisbane. The course material will include the following;

    • WHS legislation and standards and procedures relevant to confined spaces operations
    • Potential hazards and risks associated with confined spaces
    • Safety requirements and equipment relevant to confined space entry
    • Entry and exit procedures of confined spaces
    • Capabilities, limitations and characteristics of safety equipment
    • Safety and regulatory requirements such as permits for entry into confined spaces
    • Effective written, verbal and visual communication in the workplace
    • Personal protective equipment
    • Environmental management plan and emergency procedures in the workplace
    • Maintenance of equipment and isolation procedures

    The successful candidate will have the knowledge and ability to demonstrate the following:

    • Identify risks and apply necessary controls measures to ensure safety of workers
    • Work safely in a variety of confined spaces including storage tanks, boilers, pipes and sewers
    • Obtain the appropriate permit for entry into confined spaces
    • Understand the importance of safety data sheets and safe work method statements.
    • Choose the correct personal protective equipment for the job being carried out
    • Ability to use various safety equipment relevant to confined space entry such as atmospheric monitoring devices and breathing apparatus
    • Understand the types of toxic gases and their effect on the body
    • Communicate effectively with the stand-by person and ensure appropriate methods of communication such as signage and barriers are adhered to
